Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered emergency nursing care across the lifespan from neonates to centenarians
• Perform rapid triage and assessment to prioritize care in a busy ED environment
• Initiate IVs, manage IV therapy and assist with arterial/central line care when needed
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to dysrhythmias with timely interventions
• Perform and interpret EKGs; complete required EKG competency testing prior to start
• Manage ventilated patients and collaborate with respiratory therapy for optimal respiratory support
• Document accurately in MediTech and communicate clear SBAR handoffs at the bedside
• Work effectively within interdisciplinary teams including PT, RT, radiology and phlebotomy to coordinate care
• Maintain isolation precautions and appropriate PPE use to protect patients and staff
• Support unit flow and patient safety in a 12-bed emergency setting

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of emergency department nursing experience
• Current, active RN license (state licensure will be required)
• BLS, ACLS and PALS required
• EKG testing required prior to start for this specialty
• NIHSS and TNCC preferred
• Comfort with telemetry/cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Experience with IV starts, phlebotomy and ventilator care preferred
• Flu vaccine required (medical or religious exemptions allowed); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia management skills
• Proficient in IV therapy, central/arterial line awareness and phlebotomy
• Experience with MediTech documentation and SBAR bedside handoff communication
• Comfort providing care across age groups from neonates to geriatrics
• Ability to function calmly in high-acuity, fast-paced emergency settings
• Familiarity with ventilator management and respiratory support
• Triage skills and ability to prioritize multiple patients effectively
• Team-oriented communication and solid clinical judgment
