Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, high-quality care for critically ill neonates in the NICU
• Perform neonatal resuscitation and stabilization in accordance with NRP guidelines
• Closely monitor and assess physiologic status, interpreting data and responding to changes
• Administer medications and IV therapies accurately and document interventions
• Collaborate with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary team members to optimize outcomes
• Support and educate families, offering clear explanations and emotional support during stressful times
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the medical record and complete required competency exams and skills checklists
• Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and unit-specific policies

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for practice in New Jersey (Nursys/license verification required)
• Demonstrated NICU or critical care (ICU) nursing experience — NICU experience required
• Recent acute, in-hospital experience preferred
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• NRP certification required
• DCI/BVP certification listed as required
• Comfort and ability to work 12-hour night shifts
• Compliance with facility health requirements: TB test, immunizations (MMR, Hep B, Tdap, Varicella, Influenza, COVID-19), drug screen, fit test

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of neonatal critical care practices and common NICU conditions
• Competence with neonatal respiratory support and ventilator basics
• Skill in neonatal medication administration and familiarity with neonatal dosing principles
• Ability to interpret cardiac/respiratory rhythms and act quickly
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and family-centered care skills
• Comfort working in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment and completing required competency exams
