Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence-based perioperative nursing care for patients before, during, and after surgery
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and ensure all instruments and equipment are ready for each case
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and OR staff to coordinate efficient case flow
• Monitor patient status and vital signs, promptly recognizing and responding to changes
• Educate patients and families about pre- and post-operative care in a clear, compassionate way
• Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record and support continuity of care
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and team performance

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (current or eligible) — state licensure per assignment requirements
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist as part of onboarding
• Successful license/certificate verification and negative Trinity 10-panel drug screen
• Up-to-date immunizations and health clearances: COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, and required TB testing (2-step PPD or IGRA)
• Fit test clearance for required respiratory protection
• Prior perioperative/OR experience preferred but motivated new-to-OR RNs with solid surgical clinical experience are welcome

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong perioperative nursing knowledge, including sterile technique and surgical instrumentation
• Skilled at patient assessment, intraoperative monitoring, and rapid clinical decision-making
• Proficient in IV therapy, medication administration, and post-anesthesia care principles
• Comfortable using electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with multidisciplinary surgical teams
• Calm under pressure with strong prioritization and time-management abilities
