Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver patient-centered respiratory care including assessment, planning, and implementation of therapies
- Operate and manage ventilators and advanced respiratory equipment safely and effectively
- Perform arterial blood gas sampling and interpret results to guide therapy adjustments
- Provide airway management, oxygen therapy, and emergency respiratory interventions when needed
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, home equipment, and discharge plans
- Maintain accurate documentation in the medical record and support quality improvement initiatives
- Participate in competency testing and skills validation to maintain high standards of care
Qualifications
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications (required)
- State Respiratory Therapist license or eligibility to obtain state licensure prior to start (license/certificate verification required)
- Successful completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
- Fit test, 10-panel drug screen, and required immunizations/health screening (MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, COVID-19, Varicella, TB screening, physical/health statement)
- Experience in acute care settings preferred; strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a fast-paced team
Education
- Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Associate degree or higher preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Ventilator management and troubleshooting
- Arterial blood gas interpretation and oxygenation strategies
- Airway management and emergency response
- Neonatal, pediatric, and adult respiratory support principles
- Proficiency with common respiratory care devices and monitoring equipment
- Accurate clinical documentation and familiarity with electronic medical records
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and patient education skills
