Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and manage respiratory status for adult and pediatric patients, applying evidence-based interventions
• Operate and troubleshoot ventilators and respiratory equipment to ensure safe, effective therapy
• Deliver airway management and therapeutic treatments (nebulizers, chest physiotherapy, etc.) with precision
• Perform arterial blood gas sampling and interpret results to guide clinical decisions
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams — physicians, nurses, and allied staff — to optimize patient outcomes
• Document care, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely in the medical record
• Respond rapidly to respiratory emergencies and participate in code responses as needed
• Teach and coach patients and families about respiratory care plans and equipment use

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license (state licensure required or eligible) — license verification required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Completion of Trinity specialty-specific competency testing and Trinity skills checklist as part of onboarding
• Required health screenings and immunizations (fit test, drug screen, Tdap, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, 2-step PPD or IGRA, Varicella, physical/health statement)
• Strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently on night shift

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on experience with ventilator management and non-invasive ventilation
• Familiarity with Voalte communication system (preferred)
• Experience charting and navigating Epic (preferred)
• Proficiency with arterial blood gas interpretation and respiratory assessment
• Infection control practices and safe use of respiratory protective equipment
• Excellent documentation skills and teamwork in fast-paced acute care settings
