Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care: conduct evaluations, develop treatment plans, and deliver evidence-based therapy
• Maintain accurate, timely patient documentation and ensure billing information is reported correctly
• Assess and assist with transfers, gait, balance, and mobility to maximize patient independence
• Perform manual therapy techniques and safe patient handling, including lifting and positioning
• Interpret treatment results and adjust plans to meet patient goals and regulatory requirements
• Supervise and collaborate with support personnel to ensure coordinated care
• Lead or participate in in-services and staff education to elevate facility practice
• Engage in community education and family instruction to support patient recovery and discharge planning

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy (minimum requirement per job posting)
• Current certification with the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
• Valid Physical Therapy license for the state of Virginia (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• Ability to perform physical tasks safely, including lifts and transfers up to the required 50 pounds
• Comfortable with primarily hands-on patient care (approximately 90% physical tasks)
• Strong documentation and basic therapy billing/reporting skills
• Excellent communication skills for patient/family education and interdisciplinary collaboration

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy

• Patient evaluation and outcome assessment

• Transfers, gait training, and balance interventions
• Manual therapy techniques and safe handling procedures
• Accurate clinical documentation and reporting
• Familiarity with Medicare and facility therapy compliance requirements
• Ability to supervise support staff and coordinate multidisciplinary care
