Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide thorough patient evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans
- Deliver hands-on manual therapy and assist with therapeutic interventions
- Assess and assist with transfers, gait and balance to maximize patient mobility
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure Medicare compliance
- Report billing information accurately to the Rehab Director
- Supervise and coordinate support personnel to ensure safe, effective care
- Present in-services and participate in patient-care meetings to improve outcomes
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans and therapy goals
- Engage in community education and facility public relations as appropriate
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy (minimum) as required by the role
- Current certification with the American Physical Therapy Association
- Active state licensure for Physical Therapy in the assigned geographic area
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, turning and transferring patients up to 50 pounds
- Comfort with 90% physical job duties and approximately 10% sedentary tasks
- Familiarity with Medicare rules, facility policies and clinical documentation standards
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in patient evaluation, treatment planning and clinical reasoning
- Proficient in manual therapy techniques, gait and balance training
- Strong clinical documentation practices and Medicare compliance knowledge
- Experience with patient transfers and safe handling techniques
- Ability to report and interpret treatment results and billing information
- Effective communicator for patient, family and interdisciplinary team education
- Capable of developing and delivering in-service presentations
