Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts — Days: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM; Nights: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM. Travelers will be scheduled; typically includes every other weekend and 2-3 holiday shifts (Thanksgiving to New Years).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered MedSurg and Telemetry nursing care for post-op ortho, trauma, and medical-surgical patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments and maintain accurate EPIC charting
• Monitor telemetry and collaborate with Tele/Monitor Techs; maintain tele-awareness for patient safety
• Titrate IV drips safely and per protocol (heparin, lidocaine, ketamine) and manage PCA pumps
• Coordinate admissions, discharges, and transfers while managing the ‘business of the day’
• Collaborate with charge nurses, support staff, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver excellent care
• Practice hourly rounding, timely response to patient needs, and safe use of mechanical lifts

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to practice in Nebraska or compact RN as applicable)
• BLS (AHA) required at time of submission
• ACLS preferred (nice-to-have)
• Valid driver's license required at submittal (used for radius verification)
• Minimum ~2 years of recent acute care/MedSurg or telemetry experience preferred
• Comfortable with 12-hour rotating shifts, weekend and holiday coverage, and floating as needed
• Willingness to pass orientation competency (open-book skills exam; 90% passing requirement)
• Adherence to facility policies (e.g., artificial nails prohibited for patient care)

Education

• BSN not required (associate degree/diploma candidates accepted)
• Nursing degree (ADN/BSN/diploma) and active RN license

Knowledge & Skills

• MedSurg and Telemetry clinical expertise
• Orthopedics and post-op joint replacement/trauma care
• IV drip titration and PCA pump management
• Familiarity with EPIC charting system
• Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills
• Experience working with mechanical lifts and collaborating with patient care techs
• Cultural sensitivity and ability to care for diverse patient populations
