Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the CVOR for cardiovascular procedures by ensuring sterile instrumentation and supplies are ready
• Assist the surgical team during cases by passing instruments and anticipating needs to keep the case flowing
• Maintain sterile technique and OR safety standards to protect patients and staff
• Operate and troubleshoot intraoperative equipment and instruments as required
• Document perioperative care accurately in the charting system (Paragon) and follow unit protocols
• Participate in call rotations and respond promptly when called to support urgent surgical needs
• Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, and techs to optimize patient outcomes and throughput

Qualifications

• CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Surgical Tech experience (CVOR or cardiovascular OR experience strongly preferred)
• Ability to submit required licenses/certifications for credentialing
• Comfort with call responsibilities and a dependable, team-first mindset
• Willingness to complete a 12-hour orientation prior to assignment start

Education

• Surgical Technology certificate or Associate degree in Surgical Technology preferred
• High school diploma or GED required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong competency in cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) procedures and instrumentation
• Proficiency with Paragon charting/system workflows
• Excellent sterile technique and OR aseptic practices
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and adapt quickly in high-acuity cases
• Clear communication skills with surgical team members and support staff
