Roles & Responsibilities
- Implement individualized treatment plans under the direction of a licensed physical therapist to help patients regain mobility and independence
- Provide therapeutic exercise, gait training, and assistive device instruction that directly improve patient outcomes
- Document patient progress accurately and timely in the electronic medical record to ensure continuity of care
- Collaborate closely with PTs, nurses, and interdisciplinary staff to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safe mobility techniques to support recovery after discharge
- Maintain therapy equipment and ensure treatment areas meet safety and infection control standards
Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in California or ability to obtain state licensure quickly
- Active BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Experience working with adult and geriatric populations preferred
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with a patient-first attitude
- Ability to lift and assist patients as required by treatment plans
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of therapeutic exercise, gait training, transfers, and modalities
- Proficient documentation skills and comfort using electronic medical records
- Knowledge of safety, infection control, and patient handling techniques
- Skilled at patient and family education with clear, compassionate communication
- Ability to prioritize caseload and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced setting
