Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist - Night Shift

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Wednesday through Tuesday (your scheduled work week), 7 on/7 off, 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM NOC, every other weekend and holidays worked when scheduled
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $50 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform accurate laboratory testing across all sections to support diagnosis and patient care
- Accession and order tests in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and coordinate referrals to reference labs
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate lab equipment and perform basic troubleshooting to ensure quality results
- Manage overnight workflow independently, prioritize tasks, and multitask across responsibilities
- Collect specimens and perform routine phlebotomy while adhering to strict infection control procedures
- Maintain thorough documentation in accordance with regulatory agencies and laboratory policies
- Respond professionally and calmly to codes and traumas when they occur
- Deliver excellent customer service to patients and clinical staff
Qualifications
- MLT: Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology and certification/registration (MLT ASCP, MLT AMT, or CLT NCA)
- MT: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science and certification/registration (MT ASCP, MT AMT, or CLS NCA)
- Minimum of one year of laboratory experience preferred
- Comfortable performing routine phlebotomy and specimen acquisition
- Ability to work independently overnight, manage workflow, and adjust priorities
- Willingness to work every other weekend and holidays when scheduled
- Must comply with required background checks and criminal records declarations per applicable regulations
- Fluent English verbal and written communication skills
Education
- Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (required for MLT roles)
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science (required for MT roles)
- Graduation from an accredited medical technology or laboratory science program
Knowledge & Skills
- Laboratory testing and specimen processing best practices
- Accessioning and working in Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
- Equipment operation, maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting
- Infection control, chemical and biological hazard awareness
- Workflow management, multitasking, and prioritization under minimal supervision
- Accurate documentation and adherence to regulatory standards
- Customer service and teamwork in a clinical environment
- Ability to respond to codes and trauma situations
