Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients' functional abilities and design engaging, goal-focused treatment plans
- Deliver hands-on occupational therapy interventions to improve daily living skills
- Collaborate closely with OTs, nurses, rehab staff, and family members for coordinated care
- Document patient progress clearly and timely, ensuring continuity and quality of care
- Educate patients and caregivers on adaptive strategies, assistive devices, and home programs
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to advocate for patient-centered outcomes
- Support clinic workflows and help maintain a positive, safety-focused environment
Qualifications
- Current COTA certification (NBCOT) in good standing
- California state licensure or ability to obtain required state registration
- Minimum experience working in rehab or outpatient/acute settings preferred
- Strong clinical reasoning, documentation skills, and patient-centered approach
- Valid BLS/CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
Education
- Associate degree or diploma from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program
- Completion of required clinical fieldwork and NBCOT certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL/IADL training and adaptive techniques
- Familiarity with therapeutic modalities and assistive devices
- Excellent communication and patient education skills
- Comfortable using electronic medical records for documentation
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work within an interdisciplinary team
- Time management and caseload prioritization to meet patient needs
