Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the physical therapist in delivering safe, effective care across the lifespan
• Implement therapeutic exercises and help patients with mobility, transfers, and balance training
• Collect treatment data and report outcomes so care plans stay on target
• Work directly with the PT to adjust treatments based on patient response
• Teach patients and families practical at-home techniques to support recovery
• Maintain clean, organized therapy spaces and ensure equipment is ready for use
• Complete timely documentation and administrative tasks to support continuity of care
• Provide compassionate support to patients recovering from stroke, ortho procedures, neuro conditions, and more

Qualifications

• Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license — Missouri license accepted; compact license allowed
• Minimum 1 year of PTA experience (required)
• BLS and CPR (AHA) certification active at time of start (required)
• Experience working in Long-Term Care (LTC) or Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) settings (required)
• Certifications must be current and through the AHA at time of start
• Resume and skills checklist required at submission; 0-1 professional references at time of submission

Education

• Completion of an accredited PTA program and possession of active PTA license

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of therapeutic exercise instruction and progressions
• Skilled in patient transfers, mobility assistance, and safe handling techniques
• Comfortable with documentation, scheduling, and routine administrative duties
• Excellent communication skills for family education and care coordination
• Ability to follow PT instructions and collaborate on modifying care plans
• Competence in working with diverse diagnoses: post-stroke, ortho, neuro, wound care, pulmonary, and balance disorders
