Shift Type: Monday-Friday, Day shifts (8-, 10- and 12-hour options). Typical examples: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (8-hour); 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (10-hour); 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (12-hour). No weekends or holidays. Day shift

Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert pre-operative and post-operative nursing care for ambulatory surgery patients
- Apply the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care
- Deliver compassionate care across the lifespan from neonate to geriatric patients
- Manage Phase II recovery and safe patient transfers to receiving units or discharge
- Recognize and respond to cardiac arrhythmias and life-threatening emergencies promptly
- Serve as an effective liaison between patients, families and multidisciplinary staff
- Document care accurately and support the transition from Meditech to Epic
- Participate in quality improvement and follow ASPAN and AORN standards of care
Qualifications
- Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania (required)
- Completion of an accredited registered nurse program (required)
- Epic experience required; experience working through a Meditech to Epic transition is a big plus
- Current BLS certification (American Heart Association) and renewal every two years
- Current ACLS certification (American Heart Association) and renewal every two years
- Current PALS certification (American Heart Association) and renewal every two years
- EKG course completion preferred
- Strong perioperative/ambulatory experience in pre- and post-op settings
Education
- Completion of an accredited registered nurse program (diploma, ADN or BSN acceptable)
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of ASPAN standards for peri-anesthesia nursing
- Familiarity with AORN standards for perioperative care
- Ability to recognize cardiac arrhythmias and initiate appropriate action
- Strong critical thinking skills in fast-paced outpatient procedural settings
- Excellent verbal, written and non-verbal communication skills
- Team-oriented attitude with the ability to act as a patient advocate
- Experience with Phase II recovery, gastroenterology, oncology and surgical patient care
- Comfort documenting in electronic health records and learning new systems
