Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform thorough patient assessments and develop individualized respiratory care plans
- Implement, evaluate and revise therapy plans to achieve best patient outcomes
- Perform diagnostic testing including arterial blood gases (ABGs), pulmonary function testing (PFTs), EKGs, bronchoscopy assistance and pulse oximetry
- Safely transport patients within the hospital and between facilities as needed
- Document all assessments, interventions and patient responses accurately in EPIC
- Provide on-call coverage and respond to urgent respiratory needs per facility policy
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient-centered care
Qualifications
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) via NBRC (required)
- Active BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications; PALS and NRP required or strongly preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of respiratory therapy experience (posting indicates 2 years)
- Prior experience with electronic medical records — EPIC experience preferred
- Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Education Program (CoARC, JRCRTE, or CAAHEP)
- Valid driver's license (DL must be submitted) and ability to be in-state for orientation week
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Education Program (CoARC, JRCRTE, or CAAHEP)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong skills in patient assessment and respiratory care planning
- Proficient in ABGs, PFTs, EKGs, bronchoscopy support and pulse oximetry
- Experience with acute care respiratory therapy in hospital settings
- Comfortable documenting and charting in EPIC and other EMRs
- Ability to work independently, handle on-call responsibilities and adapt to flexible schedules
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with nursing and physician teams
