Registered Nurse - NICU
Location: Tacoma, Washington
Shift Type: Rotating 8-hour or 12-hour shifts (schedule varies), coverage Sunday through Saturday, up to 40 hours per week (shift assignments include day and night coverage as needed)
Candidate Pay Rate: $65 - $69 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver compassionate, age-appropriate neonatal care in collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary teams
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for critically ill neonates
- Perform physical assessments, obtain health histories, and monitor clinical status closely
- Administer medications safely through multiple routes and monitor for interactions
- Manage respiratory support including ventilators, oscillators, CPAP, SiPAP, nasal cannulas, and iNO
- Provide hands-on neonatal care such as feeding, positioning, hygiene, transport, and catheter management
- Recognize and respond rapidly to adverse clinical changes and participate in neonatal resuscitation efforts
- Educate and support families, including breastfeeding support and counseling
- Serve as a clinical resource for complex neonatal care issues and support staff assignments based on competency
- Participate in specialty referrals, follow-up coordination, and clinical improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program (ACEN or CCNE)
- Current, unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state or territory
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience in a NICU setting
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program - Advanced (NRP) required
- STABLE certification (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, Emotional Support) preferred or required
- U.S. Citizenship required due to federal contract; candidates must complete a 2 to 3 month clearance process prior to start
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ACEN or CCNE accredited)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong neonatal assessment and critical care skills
- Experience with respiratory support devices and advanced airway management
- Medication administration and neonatal IV/blood product management
- Neonatal resuscitation and high-risk delivery support
- Family-centered education and breastfeeding support
- Ability to work effectively on interdisciplinary teams and prioritize in urgent situations
- Familiarity with neonatal specialized equipment like infusion pumps, suction devices, and hypothermic units
