Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare, process, and embed tissue specimens with precision and care
• Operate microtomes and other histology equipment to produce high-quality sections
• Perform routine and special staining procedures following lab protocols
• Label, organize, and maintain accurate specimen and slide documentation
• Perform quality control checks and troubleshoot routine technical issues
• Maintain a clean, safe workspace and follow infection control and safety procedures
• Collaborate closely with pathologists and the laboratory team to support diagnostic work

Qualifications

• HTL and/or ASCP certification preferred (HTL/ASCP noted as preferred in job posting)
• Prior experience working in a clinical histology lab is preferred
• Current clear TB test within the 12 months prior to starting (required)
• Strong attention to detail, good manual dexterity, and excellent organizational skills
• Ability to work Monday through Friday on an 8-hour shift schedule
• High level of professionalism, communication skills, and teamwork mindset

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited histology program preferred
• Certification (HTL/ASCP) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on knowledge of tissue processing, microtomy, and slide staining techniques
• Familiarity with histology lab equipment maintenance and basic troubleshooting
• Understanding of laboratory safety, specimen handling, and proper labeling
• Comfort with accurate recordkeeping and following quality control procedures
• Ability to follow written protocols and adapt to evolving lab workflows
