Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform accurate and timely testing across core lab areas as a CLS generalist
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot clinical laboratory instruments and analyzers
- Follow quality control, calibration, and documentation procedures to ensure reliable results
- Process and handle patient specimens with attention to chain of custody and specimen integrity
- Communicate critical results and collaborate with clinicians to support patient care
- Contribute to a culture of safety and compliance with CLIA/CAP and facility policies
- Participate in competency assessments, continuing education, and team training activities
Qualifications
- Current California CLS or MLS license required
- CLS Generalist experience covering core lab areas (chemistry, hematology, microbiology, blood bank, urinalysis) preferred
- TB clearance completed within the past 12 months required
- Prior clinical laboratory experience in a hospital or acute care setting preferred
- Strong attention to detail, effective communication, and teamwork mindset
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, or related field, or equivalent clinical laboratory training
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience with clinical lab instrumentation and point-of-care devices
- Knowledge of quality control, proficiency testing, and troubleshooting lab assays
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and electronic result reporting
- Understanding of safety practices, infection control, and regulatory requirements
- Strong specimen handling, labeling, and documentation skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload during busy shifts
