Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to adult medical and surgical patients
• Float between Medical, Laulima (surgical acute) and occasional Cardiovascular units to meet patient care needs
• Perform patient assessments, develop and implement nursing plans, and prioritize care across a busy unit
• Administer medications and utilize systems like Pyxis while closely monitoring patient response
• Manage specialty equipment and procedures such as wound VACs and chest tubes with vigilance
• Document thoroughly in Meditech EMR and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary team
• Educate patients and families on treatments, recovery expectations, and discharge planning
• Participate in orientation and unit training to maintain float readiness and clinical competence

Qualifications

• Active Hawaii RN license required by start of assignment (if not currently licensed, candidate must apply upon acceptance)
• Minimum 2 years clinical RN experience (posting references 2–10 years)
• Current BLS and ACLS required
• Preferred: PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC
• Experience with 12-hour shifts and floating between units
• Comfort managing medical-surgical patients and occasional cardiovascular cases

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with Meditech EMR for accurate documentation
• Experience using Pyxis medication systems
• Skill in wound VAC care and chest tube management
• Strong medical-surgical nursing fundamentals and patient assessment skills
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and respond to changing patient acuity
• Clear communication and teamwork across disciplines
• Comfortable with IV therapy, medication administration, and bedside procedures
