Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate Med/Surg nursing care to adult patients (18+)
• Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions accurately in the EMR
• Administer medications and manage complex equipment such as wound vacs and chest tubes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate safe, timely care
• Educate patients and families about condition management and discharge planning
• Respond effectively to clinical changes and escalate per unit protocols
• Float to other units (surgical pediatrics, transitional care) when needed to support patient flow
• Participate in unit orientation and ongoing training to maintain high standards of care

Qualifications

• Active Hawaii RN license required by start of assignment
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg or higher-level nursing experience
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Experience with adult patient care (18+) and Med/Surg level responsibilities
• Comfortable using Meditech EMR and Pyxis medication systems
• Able to work variable shifts and float between units as needed
• Professional nursing attire and closed-toe shoes required

Knowledge & Skills

• Med/Surg nursing best practices and adult patient assessment
• EMR documentation (Meditech) and clinical charting accuracy
• Medication administration workflows and Pyxis experience
• Wound vac management and chest tube care
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and communicate clearly under pressure
• Familiarity with transitional care and surgical pediatrics unit expectations
