Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, direct personal care to residents following each individualized Plan of Care
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting and mobility support
- Take and document vital signs accurately using BP cuff, thermometer and stethoscope
- Follow RN Case Manager or delegate instructions and report resident changes promptly
- Maintain clear, timely documentation and simple records of tasks performed
- Support a safe, sanitary environment using appropriate infection control and PPE
- Communicate effectively with residents, families and the care team to promote dignity and comfort
Qualifications
- Alaska Certified Nursing Assistant License (required)
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (required and must be maintained)
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience in long term care preferred but will train motivated candidates
- Ability to read, write and follow short correspondence, memos and care instructions
- Basic math skills to compute measurements, ratios and interpret graphs as needed
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Direct personal care and long term care practices
- Following individualized Plans of Care developed by RN Case Manager
- Vital signs measurement and equipment use (BP cuff, thermometer, stethoscope)
- Documentation and basic record keeping
- Strong communication skills for one-on-one and small group interactions
- Infection control practices and safe use of personal protective equipment
- Basic arithmetic and the ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages
