Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality direct nursing care to a diverse med/surg patient population
- Assess patients, monitor status, and implement appropriate nursing interventions
- Administer medications and treatments safely and document accurately
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
- Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and discharge plans
- Act as a confident team player, supporting colleagues during busy periods and handoffs
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and documentation standards
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (Colorado license or compact RN license preferred)
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, TNCC
- Experience in Med/Surg nursing (prior med/surg experience preferred)
- Comfort and ability to work the 6-on/8-off night rotation
- Strong teamwork, critical thinking, and adaptability in a rural hospital environment
- Excellent communication and patient/family education skills
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid med/surg assessment and care planning skills
- Proficiency with medication administration and documentation
- Ability to triage and prioritize in a busy, varied patient environment
- Team-based approach to patient care and effective interdisciplinary communication
- Adaptability to rural hospital workflows and a wide variety of patient needs
