Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive office and hospital-based obstetric and gynecologic care, including prenatal visits, deliveries, and postpartum management
- Perform and manage deliveries: routine vaginal births, low forceps, cesarean sections, VBACs, breech and multiple births, and repair of 3rd/4th degree lacerations
- Interpret OB ultrasounds (Level I/screening) and fetal heart rate monitoring (NST/CST/FSE) to guide clinical decisions
- Deliver office and minor gynecologic procedures such as IUD insertion, colposcopy, LEEP, cryotherapy, and cystoscopy
- Participate in operative gynecology (laparoscopic and open) for diagnostic and minor/major cases as needed
- Provide reliable 24-hour on-call coverage via PerfectServe and coordinate care with midwives and APPs
- Document thoroughly in EPC (EMR) and communicate effectively during transitions of care
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree (required)
- Eligible for or holding medical licensure to practice in Virginia
- Board certified or board eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology preferred
- Demonstrated experience with vaginal delivery, cesarean section, VBAC, operative deliveries, and repair of severe perineal lacerations
- Proficiency in OB ultrasound interpretation (Level I/screening) and fetal heart rate monitoring (NST/CST/FSE)
- Comfortable providing hospital and office-based care and participating in a 1:4 call rotation for the coverage period (May 1, 2026 - August 31, 2026)
- Familiarity with EPC EMR and using PerfectServe for call coordination
Education
- MD or DO (required)
- Completion of OB/GYN residency (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong intrapartum decision-making and labor management
- Surgical skills for operative gynecology and cesarean delivery
- Ultrasound and fetal heart rate interpretation skills
- Ability to collaborate with midwives, APPs, and multidisciplinary teams
- Efficient outpatient clinic workflow management and patient counseling skills
- Comfort with office procedures like IUD insertion, colposcopy, LEEP, and cryotherapy
