Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor adult PCU patients using strong clinical judgment to keep care safe and effective
• Manage telemetry monitoring and interpret cardiac rhythms to identify changes early
• Administer and manage IV therapy and Alaris pumps accurately and confidently
• Titrate and monitor cardiac drips and critical medications while following protocols
• Provide empathetic hourly rounding and responsive bedside care to improve patient experience
• Document thoroughly in EPIC to ensure clear communication across the care team
• Collaborate with educators, care managers, social workers and therapy teams to coordinate care
• Float to other medical-surgical areas as needed and support unit staffing challenges

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (able to submit license at submittal)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification noted as required
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care or PCU/stepdown nursing experience
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and managing cardiac medications/drips
• Driver's license required at submittal to satisfy the 50-mile radius rule
• Willingness to pass an open-book orientation skills exam with a 90% passing score
• Ability to work every-other-weekend and float to highest-need areas when requested

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, diploma or BSN accepted) — BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with EPIC charting and bedside documentation
• Skilled in telemetry interpretation and PCU/stepdown patient management
• Experience using Alaris IV pumps and PCA pump familiarity
• Knowledge of cardiac meds including Cardizem and insulin management
• Comfortable with mechanical lifts and safe patient handling techniques
• Strong prioritization, time management and teamwork skills in a fast-paced unit
