Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (day or night; exact start/end times vary by roster). Typical schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours) after orientation; 2 × 12-hour call shifts per 4-week roster period. Orientation: 1 week up to 40 hours. Shift assignment (day or night) determined per roster based on staffing needs.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor critically ill patients with focused, evidence-based care
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Operate and troubleshoot ICU equipment and document findings accurately in Meditech
- Provide advanced life support and respond to rapid changes using ACLS protocols
- Educate and support patients and families through complex care transitions
- Float to other critical care and step-down units as needed to meet patient needs
- Maintain professional standards, infection control, and documentation practices
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
Qualifications
- Active Hawaii RN license required by start of assignment
- Minimum 3 years of intensive care (ICU/critical care) nursing experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIH SS) certification required — submit certificate or complete 45-minute online class during orientation
- Comfortable with Meditech electronic charting
- Ability to float to other critical care and step-down areas and adapt to changing assignments
- Professional dress (scrubs) and ability to work in a 2:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong critical care assessment and clinical decision-making
- Familiarity with ICU equipment and monitoring systems
- Proficient documentation skills in Meditech
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills for high-acuity settings
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and remain calm under pressure
- Patient and family education, discharge planning, and care coordination
