Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the OR environment and sterile field so every procedure starts safely and smoothly
• Assist the surgical team throughout operative procedures, anticipating needs and passing instruments
• Handle instruments and medical devices with precision, ensuring proper function and safety
• Provide exposure, assist with tissue handling, perform suturing and hemostasis as directed
• Arrange and inventory sterile set-ups and restock supplies between cases
• Support patient preparation, positioning, transfer, and safe movement to and from the OR
• Follow infection prevention standards and use technology safely to protect patients and staff
• Engage in ongoing professional development, competency assessments, and unit performance activities

Qualifications

• 2 years CSFA experience (required)
• Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program (required)
• NBSTSA certification (required)
• Proven ability to work under RN direction and collaborate effectively with surgical teams
• Demonstrated adherence to sterile technique, infection prevention, and safety protocols

Education

• Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program

Knowledge & Skills

• Peri-operative care fundamentals and operating room assistance
• Sterile set-up and maintenance with strong sterile technique
• Instrument handling, passing, and inventory management
• Suturing and hemostasis support during procedures
• Familiarity with medical devices and surgical technology, including robotic (daVinci) exposure
• Patient preparation, positioning, transfer, and safe movement
• Infection prevention standards and evidence-based clinical practices
• Ability to participate in performance improvement and complete competency assessments
