Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform patient intake and measure vital signs accurately to support clinical decisions
• Assist clinicians during exams and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety
• Document patient encounters and charting in the electronic health record with attention to detail
• Collect and label specimens correctly and follow proper chain-of-custody and infection-control practices
• Communicate professionally with patients and custody staff in a correctional healthcare environment
• Support onboarding and training activities during the two-week training period

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant classification (MA) — this role is for an MA
• Willingness and availability to attend a two-week, Monday–Friday training period
• Comfort working in a correctional facility and following site-specific safety protocols
• Ability to work the posted day shift schedule, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Education

• Medical Assistant (MA) classification as listed; on-site training provided (two weeks)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient communication and bedside manner
• Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, assisting with exams, specimen collection
• Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate documentation
• Infection control practices and attention to safety procedures
• Teamwork: collaborating effectively with clinicians, nursing staff, and facility personnel
