Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care including ventilator management and oxygen therapy
• Assess patients’ respiratory status and perform interventions such as airway clearance and aerosol therapy
• Perform and interpret arterial blood gases and adjust therapy in collaboration with providers
• Operate, troubleshoot and maintain respiratory equipment safely and effectively
• Document patient care accurately in the medical record and communicate changes to the care team
• Participate in Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and complete the Trinity Skills Checklist
• Adhere to infection control standards and complete required health screenings and fit testing

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license (state licensure required or eligible to obtain) with License/Certificate Verification
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Willingness to complete Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
• Current health screenings and immunizations as required (fit test, Tdap, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hep B, influenza, 2-step PPD or IGRA, varicella, physical, 10-panel drug screen)
• Comfortable working rotating weekend coverage and holiday coverage as needed
• Strong critical thinking, teamwork, and patient-centered communication skills

Education

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent; RRT/CRT credentials preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and respiratory equipment operation
• Airway management and aerosolized medication administration
• Arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation
• Patient assessment and individualized respiratory care planning
• Electronic medical record documentation and interdisciplinary communication
• Infection control practices and use of personal protective equipment
