Roles & Responsibilities
- Process tissue specimens using embedding and microtomy to produce high-quality slides
- Perform immunohistochemistry (IHC) and special stains with precision and attention to detail
- Operate and maintain Roche equipment and support digital pathology workflows
- Accurately document all procedures and results in Epic Beaker (LIS/EMR)
- Follow quality control procedures and lab safety protocols to ensure reliable diagnoses
- Collaborate with the technical coordinator and lab team to prioritize and manage workloads
- Participate in orientation and ongoing professional development to maintain competency
- Support holiday and weekend staffing needs as part of a dependable team
Qualifications
- HT (Histotechnician) ASCP or HTL (Histotechnologist) ASCP certification required
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of histology experience required; 3 years preferred
- Associate's degree preferred
- Valid driver's license required (must submit); candidates should be within the 60-mile radius
- Weekend and holiday availability required (scheduled Wed–Sun with holiday coverage as needed)
- Ability to complete orientation week in-state (some onboarding modules may be remote)
Education
- Associate's degree in a related field preferred; HT/HTL ASCP certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Routine histology techniques: embedding and microtomy
- Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and special stains
- Digital pathology workflows and image handling
- Epic Beaker LIS/EMR proficiency
- Operation and basic maintenance of Roche laboratory equipment
- Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and adherence to QC processes
- Team collaboration and effective communication within a lab setting
