Roles & Responsibilities

• Process tissue specimens using embedding and microtomy to produce high-quality slides
• Perform immunohistochemistry (IHC) and special stains with precision and attention to detail
• Operate and maintain Roche equipment and support digital pathology workflows
• Accurately document all procedures and results in Epic Beaker (LIS/EMR)
• Follow quality control procedures and lab safety protocols to ensure reliable diagnoses
• Collaborate with the technical coordinator and lab team to prioritize and manage workloads
• Participate in orientation and ongoing professional development to maintain competency
• Support holiday and weekend staffing needs as part of a dependable team

Qualifications

• HT (Histotechnician) ASCP or HTL (Histotechnologist) ASCP certification required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of histology experience required; 3 years preferred
• Associate's degree preferred
• Valid driver's license required (must submit); candidates should be within the 60-mile radius
• Weekend and holiday availability required (scheduled Wed–Sun with holiday coverage as needed)
• Ability to complete orientation week in-state (some onboarding modules may be remote)

Education

• Associate's degree in a related field preferred; HT/HTL ASCP certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Routine histology techniques: embedding and microtomy
• Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and special stains
• Digital pathology workflows and image handling
• Epic Beaker LIS/EMR proficiency
• Operation and basic maintenance of Roche laboratory equipment
• Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and adherence to QC processes
• Team collaboration and effective communication within a lab setting
