Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: 4x10 or 5x8 (day shift options); rotating schedule with call expectation of 1–2 night calls per week and every third weekend — includes nights and weekend coverage (rotating)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $126 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare and record complete patient histories and develop individualized plans of care in collaboration with the attending surgeon
- Perform and interpret diagnostic studies such as EMG, ECG, x-ray, CT and MRI orders to guide timely treatment
- Perform procedural skills including regional anesthesia, digital blocks, wound management, minor outpatient surgeries and joint injections
- Provide reduction and immobilization for fractures and dislocations, and apply casts, splints and braces
- Serve as primary orthopedic call coverage for Emergency Department and inpatient units, including weekday, weekend and 24-hour call rotations
- Assist in the operating room as first assist when needed and support surgeons with both deep and superficial tissue closures
- Conduct hospital rounds, write clear orders, dictate discharge summaries and document care in the electronic health record
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounding, respond to coding/documentation queries and engage in quality and safety initiatives
Qualifications
- Current PA certification (PA-C) and ability to obtain/hold state licensure in Oregon
- Experience in orthopedics or strong musculoskeletal background preferred
- Proficiency with electronic health records and order entry
- Comfort performing procedural skills (regional anesthesia, joint injections, wound care, fracture care)
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in emergent or stressful situations
- Willingness to participate in rotating call, holiday and weekend coverage
- Current BLS required; ACLS preferred or obtainable
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current NCCPA certification (PA-C) and state PA licensure (or ability to obtain Oregon licensure)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong assessment and treatment planning skills for inpatient and ED orthopedic patients
- Familiarity with EMG, ECG, radiology (x-ray/CT/MRI) and ordering/interpretation workflow
- Procedural competence: casting/splinting, fracture reduction, joint/bursa aspirations and injections
- Surgical assistance skills including first assist responsibilities
- Excellent documentation and communication skills for clear, compliant charting
- Ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams and contribute to quality/safety efforts
- Calm, decisive performance in emergent and high-stress situations
