Location: Joliet, IL
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Days and nights available; rotating shifts. Every-other-weekend and holiday rotation required. Specific start/end times vary by assigned day or night shift and will be scheduled with the manager.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality critical care nursing for patients in the ICU and like-kind units
- Perform focused assessments and deliver timely interventions using critical-care standards
- Conduct NIHSS stroke assessments when required and apply appropriate protocols
- Administer medications safely and maintain accurate clinical documentation
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care
- Participate in required skills checklists, Prime exams, and ongoing competency evaluations
- Adhere to infection prevention practices and maintain required health screenings and vaccinations
- Float to related specialties within scope/skillset as unit needs dictate
Qualifications
- Current, active RN licensure (verifiable via Nursys)
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS and DCI/BVP required/perferred per unit checklist
- Comfortable working day or night shifts and participating in every-other-weekend/holiday rotation
- Ability to complete Prime Basic Pharmacology, Prime Specialty, Prime Core Competencies, and Prime Skills Checklist
- Current compliance with required health screenings and immunizations (e.g., TB testing, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Fit Test, Varicella, Tdap)
- Strong clinical judgment, effective communication, and teamwork in fast-paced critical care settings
Education
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required (Nursys-verifiable). Formal nursing education (ADN/BSN) per employer preference.
Knowledge & Skills
- Critical care patient assessment and monitoring
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response following ACLS protocols
- Stroke recognition and NIHSS assessment skills
- Medication administration and safe documentation practices
- Familiarity with competency testing workflows (Prime exams and skills checklists)
- Ability to safely float to like-kind units and adapt to varying clinical workflows
- Professionalism in maintaining licensure and required health documentation
