Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ mobility, strength, balance, and functional needs to create individualized care plans
- Develop and implement therapeutic interventions to improve independence and quality of life
- Collaborate with nursing, therapy assistants, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
- Document progress, modify treatment plans, and communicate outcomes with the care team and families
- Provide skilled, compassionate care while managing caseloads across Starkville Manor and designated float locations
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, fall prevention, and safe mobility strategies
Qualifications
- Current Physical Therapist license (state of Mississippi license or eligible for licensure)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or post-acute rehab settings preferred
- Strong clinical reasoning, patient assessment, and documentation skills
- Ability to float between Starkville Manor and nearby sites as scheduled
Education
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or Master’s in Physical Therapy, or equivalent degree
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in patient assessment, therapeutic exercise, gait training, and transfers
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and timely documentation
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills with patients, families, and staff
- Knowledge of safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements in long-term care
- Ability to prioritize caseload and adapt treatment plans across multiple sites
