Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture and capillary specimen collection with care and professionalism
- Label, process, and transport specimens following strict chain-of-custody and quality protocols
- Maintain a calm, reassuring presence to put patients at ease during collections
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and PPE procedures to protect patients and staff
- Document specimen data and patient interactions clearly and accurately
- Collaborate with nursing and lab teams to ensure timely specimen handling and results delivery
- Support orientation and training activities during the initial 3-day onboarding period
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician or equivalent phlebotomy certification preferred
- Previous phlebotomy experience or clinical experience helpful but enthusiastic new pros welcome
- Basic life support/CPR certification preferred
- Ability to follow facility policies and maintain patient confidentiality
- Willingness to complete facility-required screening and onboarding (orientation provided)
- Strong communication skills and a patient-first attitude
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; phlebotomy certificate or formal training preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in venipuncture and capillary collection techniques
- Knowledge of specimen labeling, handling, and transportation best practices
- Familiarity with infection control and standard precautions
- Attention to detail for accurate patient identification and documentation
- Comfortable working in structured clinical environments and following protocols
- Good interpersonal skills for working with diverse patient populations
