Roles & Responsibilities
- Oversee all nursing services to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate long-term resident care
- Lead assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation to improve resident outcomes
- Supervise, mentor, and schedule RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and nurse managers to build a high-performing team
- Drive regulatory compliance and prepare the facility for surveys, inspections, and audits
- Develop and lead QAPI initiatives to continuously improve quality and safety
- Manage nursing department operations including staffing levels, documentation accuracy, and resource use
- Provide hands-on clinical leadership—teaching, coaching, and stepping in when resident care needs you
- Participate in facility leadership planning to align nursing goals with organizational strategy
Qualifications
- Active Michigan Registered Nurse license required at time of submission
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
- CPR certification required (document required)
- Infection Control Certification required (document required)
- 3-5 years of nursing experience (required); prior leadership/management in long-term care preferred
- Prior Director of Nursing, Nurse Manager, or equivalent leadership experience is a strong plus
- Experience with Matrix systems preferred
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility submission requirements
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (required)
- Bachelor Degree in Nursing (preferred)

- Long-term care nursing best practices and resident-centered care
- Resident assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Regulatory compliance with CMS and state health department standards
- Quality assurance and QAPI program leadership
- Infection control principles and risk management
- Staff supervision, recruitment, scheduling, and performance management
- Nursing documentation standards and clinical record accuracy
- Budget awareness for departmental resource planning and staffing
