Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality critical care to ICU and CCU patients, managing acuity from sepsis to post-procedure care
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and telemetry strips, responding promptly to dysrhythmias
• Manage mechanical ventilation and provide ventilator care and assessment
• Administer and titrate IV drips and vasopressors safely, including amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, and sedatives
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned, coordinating unit workflow and staff assignments
• Collaborate with independent physicians and the multidisciplinary team to execute patient care plans
• Provide focused, one-to-one or one-to-two nursing based on patient ratios
• Support patient transitions and post-procedure care, following strict monitoring protocols for high-risk patients
• Participate in unit floating and cross-training to maintain flexibility and staffing coverage
• Document accurately in Meditech and Cerner to ensure clear communication and continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for submission in CA
• Minimum 2 years of critical care (ICU/CCU) nursing experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• NIHSS and advanced EKG dysrhythmia course certification preferred or required per unit notes
• Experience with mechanical ventilation and managing vasoactive drips
• Familiarity with Meditech and Cerner electronic medical records
• COVID vaccination required per facility policy
• Ability and willingness to float between ICU, CCU, tele, and potentially the ED with provided training

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required; ADN or nursing diploma acceptable

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and assessment
• Cardiac monitoring and ECG interpretation
• IV medication/drip management including vasoactive agents and sedation
• Critical care assessment and rapid response skills
• Telemetry systems including GE monitoring familiarity
• Experience working with Meditech and Cerner charting systems
• Charge nurse skills including delegation and unit coordination
• Strong communication and teamwork with physicians, RT, and pharmacy
