Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care in the operating room
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and ensure proper instrument handling
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Perform pre-op assessments and post-op handoffs with clear, thorough documentation
• Use Cerner to accurately chart patient care and communicate changes in status
• Respond to call coverage needs and float to support other units when required

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to submit California RN license)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (Operating Room/acute care experience preferred)
• BLS certification required
• Experience or familiarity with OR processes and perioperative nursing
• Experience with Cerner or similar electronic health record systems
• Willingness to float (first to float) and participate in call coverage
• Ability to complete a 12-hour orientation

Education

• BSN not required
• Completion of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) is expected

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong perioperative and acute care nursing knowledge
• Proficiency with sterile technique and operating room protocols
• Comfortable using Cerner for documentation and charting
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to prioritize and respond calmly in fast-paced surgical settings
• Patient advocacy and attention to detail during all phases of care
