Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ functional mobility and establish individualized, measurable treatment plans
- Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions to restore movement and independence
- Document clinical findings, progress notes, and discharge plans accurately and timely
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and rehabilitation aides to support coordinated care
- Educate patients and families on home programs, safe mobility, and fall prevention
- Participate in interdisciplinary discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions
- Maintain and troubleshoot therapy equipment and ensure a safe therapy environment
Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist in North Carolina or eligible for state licensure
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Experience in skilled nursing/rehabilitation settings preferred
- Comfortable working with a diverse adult patient population with complex needs
- Strong clinical reasoning, documentation skills, and collaborative mindset
- Ability to work a contract travel assignment and adapt to new facility workflows
Education
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or entry-level degree in physical therapy as required by state licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in therapeutic exercise, gait training, balance and functional mobility training
- Familiarity with ADL retraining, transfers, and safe patient handling techniques
- Proficient documentation skills and familiarity with electronic medical records
- Ability to perform effective patient and family education
- Strong verbal and written communication and interdisciplinary teamwork abilities
