Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients' functional abilities and develop individualized treatment plans that promote independence
- Implement evidence-based occupational therapy interventions focused on activities of daily living and adaptive strategies
- Document clinical progress clearly and promptly to support continuity of care
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, physicians and family members to coordinate holistic care plans
- Educate patients and caregivers on safe transfers, adaptive equipment, and home strategies to maximize recovery
- Monitor and adjust treatment approaches based on patient response and clinical goals
- Participate in discharge planning to ensure safe transitions and appropriate follow-up care
Qualifications
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential
- Active California state licensure or registration as required for practice
- Completion of an accredited OTA program (associate-level or equivalent)
- Current BLS (CPR) certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Comfort working in a post-acute/rehabilitation setting; strong clinical judgment and patient-centered focus
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
Education
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) or graduation from an accredited OTA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL assessment and training, adaptive equipment recommendations, and therapeutic activities
- Knowledge of safe transfer techniques and mobility training
- Strong documentation skills and familiarity with clinical charting best practices
- Ability to educate patients and families with empathy and clarity
- Familiarity with infection control practices and safety protocols
- Good time management and caseload prioritization skills
