Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality patient care in PCU and Oncology Medical-Surgical units using EPIC for documentation
• Float between Oncology MS and PCU units as needed to support patient care and staffing
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias, initiating appropriate interventions
• Manage IV therapy, PICC/central line care, blood product administration and hemodialysis support
• Deliver respiratory care including HFNC, tracheostomy management and ABG interpretation
• Administer and monitor insulin protocols and other critical medication protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Respiratory, PT, Pharmacy and Rapid Response
• Maintain safety and security working in a locked corrections unit environment with Corrections Officer support

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license in good standing
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; must meet experience requirements within the last 3 years and have at least 1 year of current specialty experience for clinical pass
• BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Comfortable working in a secure corrections environment and floating between units
• Ability to manage PCU ratios (1:3) and MS ratios (1:4-5) and prioritize patient safety

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical-Surgical, Telemetry and PCU competencies
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• IV therapy, PICC and central line management, blood product administration
• Pre/post hemodialysis care and renal failure management
• Feeding tube care and tracheostomy management
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), ABG interpretation and non-invasive airway support
• Familiarity with Pyxis medication systems and EPIC documentation
• Use of rapid response/code teams and strong emergency response skills
• Isolation precautions, PPE and safe practice in correctional settings
