Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, Night schedule: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, typically 3 nights per week (Night 3x12). Schedule rotates and may include day shifts during the 4-week scheduling period; weekends variable based on unit needs. Orientation: Week 1 Mon-Fri days, Week 2 = 36 hours on-unit with a preceptor.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care for adults and geriatrics on a busy surgical oncology PCU
- Administer and monitor chemotherapy, IV antibiotics, insulin drips, and heparin drips safely and accurately
- Perform blood transfusions and manage oncologic emergencies including cytokine release syndrome
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret dysrhythmias, and implement appropriate management
- Manage chest tubes and tracheostomies, and deliver respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP when needed
- Use EPIC for timely, accurate documentation and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including pharmacy, PT, respiratory, and social services
- Maintain strict infection prevention practices and fall-prevention strategies to protect vulnerable patients
- Operate unit-specific equipment such as Alaris pumps, bladder scanners, GE telemetry B450 monitors, and Stryker beds
Qualifications
- Active RN license (able to practice in Ohio or eligible for state licensure)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with required experience met within the last 3 years; at least 1 year of current specialty experience for clinical pass
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required
- ONS Chemo certification preferred
- EPIC charting experience required
- Experience with PCU, Med-Surg, Telemetry or Surgical Oncology preferred
- Comfort floating to other acute care oncology units as needed
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). BSN preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong telemetry skills including cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Chemotherapy administration and safety practices
- Management of IV therapies including antibiotics, insulin drips, and heparin drips
- Blood transfusion procedures and monitoring
- Chest tube and tracheostomy care
- Infection prevention best practices and fall mitigation
- Familiarity with EPIC electronic charting and unit-specific equipment like Alaris pumps and bladder scanners
- Effective communication and teamwork across interdisciplinary teams
