Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour rotation, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM; rotating weekdays and weekends (includes rotating holidays); weekend coverage every other weekend

Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality PCU nursing care for adult neurological patients, including post-neurosurgery and stroke care
- Monitor cardiac telemetry continuously and recognize/interpret dysrhythmias promptly
- Administer and manage IV therapy, central/PICC/arterial lines, and blood products safely
- Titrate cardiac drips and follow heparin and other protocols accurately
- Manage respiratory support such as High Flow Nasal Cannula and oxygen therapy
- Deliver specialized neuro interventions including post-TPA care, TNK administration, and lumbar drain monitoring
- Perform wound care and manage wound vacs when indicated
- Document thoroughly and efficiently using EPIC to ensure continuity of care
- Collaborate with PT, RT, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams for coordinated patient care
- Float to other units within the OSU system as needed and adapt to changing patient populations
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of PCU experience required, with neuro patient experience (HARD STOP: 2 years)
- BLS required and NIHSS required
- EPIC charting experience required
- ACLS preferred
- Experience with cardiac telemetry and cardiac monitoring
- Comfortable with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central/PICC/arterial line care, and blood product administration
- Experience with High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and respiratory support
- Ability to float to different units and work rotating schedules, including holidays and every-other-weekend coverage
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- PCU/neuro stepdown patient management including stroke, intracranial bleeds, and craniotomy care
- EPIC documentation and charting workflows
- IV therapy, PICC/central line care, arterial line management, and phlebotomy
- Titration of cardiac drips and familiarity with heparin protocols
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) management and oxygen therapy
- Wound care and wound vac experience
- TNK administration and post-thrombolytic monitoring
- Familiarity with EEG and neuro monitoring considerations
