Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and manage ICU, CVICU and Neuro ICU clinical teams to deliver safe, high-quality patient care
• Oversee staffing and unit ratios (1:1–1:2), ensuring appropriate coverage and rapid clinical escalation
• Provide clear, direct communication to frontline staff, physicians, and executive stakeholders
• Handle performance management and operational concerns promptly and professionally
• Use spreadsheets and dashboards to track unit metrics and present actionable data to leadership
• Coordinate clinical operations for complex patient populations (CRRT, TAVR, Impella, CABG, neuro cases)
• Make timely clinical and operational decisions and escalate appropriately when needed
• Organize meetings, action items and follow-through to close the loop on commitments and outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state appropriate) required
• Minimum 5 years of nursing experience with at least 2 years in management or leadership
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Experience in ICU nursing and critical care leadership (ICU/CVICU/Neuro ICU strongly preferred)
• Proficiency with Cerner or similar electronic charting systems
• Proven ability with spreadsheets and basic data analysis to track unit performance
• No first-time travel nurses — prior travel/contract experience preferred or proven adaptability to contract roles

Education

• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and clinical decision-making for complex, high-acuity patients
• Staffing/ratios management and operational leadership
• Strong verbal and written communication for multidisciplinary teams and executive reporting
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, tracking dashboards, and presenting data
• Experience with CRRT, TAVR, Impella and post-op cardiac care workflows
• Neuro ICU experience including stroke care, thrombectomies, EVD/ICP monitoring
• Ability to manage competing priorities, escalate appropriately, and demonstrate sound judgment under pressure
