Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients with cardiopulmonary and breathing disorders to develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans
• Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and chest physiotherapy with attention to safety and effectiveness
• Manage and monitor mechanical ventilation, making adjustments per protocol and in coordination with physicians
• Perform thorough patient assessment and continuous monitoring to detect changes and intervene promptly
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Document assessments, treatments, and response to therapy accurately and timely in the medical record
• Provide patient and family education on disease management, inhaler technique, and home oxygen use
• Respond rapidly to respiratory emergencies and participate in code or rapid response situations as needed

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license or eligibility to obtain licensure in Oklahoma
• CRT or RRT credential preferred
• Current BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred or willing to obtain
• Clinical experience with mechanical ventilation, oxygen therapy, and aerosol medication administration
• Experience caring for a range of patients from pediatric to geriatric populations in hospital/clinic settings
• Strong teamwork and communication skills; comfortable collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to work nights and adapt to shift-based schedules

Education

• Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or completion of an accredited respiratory care program
• CRT or RRT credential preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation management and troubleshooting
• Oxygen therapy and titration practices
• Aerosol medication administration techniques
• Chest physiotherapy methods and airway clearance strategies
• Patient assessment and cardiopulmonary monitoring
• COPD, asthma, and pneumonia management principles
• Pediatric through geriatric respiratory care
• Experience working in hospital and clinic environments
