Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform rapid patient assessment and triage to prioritize care in a busy ER
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated care
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes clearly in the medical record
• Respond promptly to emergencies and assist with resuscitation and stabilization
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions
• Maintain compliance with infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (state-appropriate) in good standing
• Previous ER or emergency department experience preferred
• Current BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred or as required by facility
• Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Comfortable working independently in high-acuity, fast-paced settings
• Ability to provide compassionate patient- and family-centered care

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Completion of accredited nursing program and successful NCLEX-RN licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of emergency nursing protocols and triage principles
• IV therapy, medication administration, and wound care proficiency
• Familiarity with EHR documentation and computerized charting systems
• Ability to prioritize multiple patients and manage time effectively
• Clear communication skills with patients, families, and clinical teams
• Basic trauma and cardiac monitoring skills
