Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and embed tissue specimens accurately and efficiently to support timely diagnoses
• Operate microtomes to produce high-quality sections for pathology review
• Perform immunohistochemistry (IHC) and special stains with attention to protocol and quality control
• Maintain and operate digital pathology systems and Roche equipment according to lab standards
• Document procedures and results in the Epic Beaker LIS to ensure traceability and compliance
• Follow lab safety, infection control, and quality assurance procedures at all times
• Collaborate with the technical coordinator and lab director to support department goals
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain competence and certifications

Qualifications

• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Certified Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) via ASCP required
• Minimum 2 years of histology experience required; 3 years preferred
• Familiarity with Epic Beaker (LIS/EMR) and Roche laboratory equipment preferred
• Detail-oriented with strong technical precision and documentation skills
• Valid driver's license (DL) must be submitted — 60-mile radius requirement
• Ability to be in-state for the week of orientation

Education

• Associate degree preferred

• Routine histology: embedding and microtomy
• Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and special stains
• Digital pathology workflows and quality control
• Proficiency with Epic Beaker (LIS/EMR)
• Experience with Roche laboratory equipment
• Strong attention to detail and documentation
• Comfort working scheduled weekends and holiday coverage when needed
