Candidate Pay Rate: $51 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Assess and monitor post-anesthesia patients closely to ensure safe recovery
Administer medications and treatments as ordered and document responses
Manage airway, breathing and circulation issues promptly and effectively
Collaborate with anesthesia, surgeons and the perioperative team for seamless handoffs
Provide clear patient and family education about recovery expectations
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the patient record and handoffs
Ensure a safe, compassionate environment that prioritizes patient comfort and safety

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or compact RN with ability to practice in LA)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred or as required by facility
Prior PACU or post-anesthesia nursing experience preferred
Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication skills for patient/family education and interdisciplinary collaboration

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Solid understanding of post-anesthesia physiology and recovery phases
Skilled in pain assessment and multimodal pain management strategies
Proficient with monitoring equipment (vital signs, pulse oximetry, cardiac monitors)
IV medication administration and titration knowledge
Competent documentation skills in electronic health records
Team-focused approach with strong critical thinking and prioritization
