Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to neuro stepdown patients with compassion and professionalism
• Perform focused neurological assessments and monitor changes in patient status
• Administer medications, treatments and therapies safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and multidisciplinary team members to develop and execute care plans
• Provide clear and timely clinical documentation and handoffs to support continuity of care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, procedures and discharge planning to promote recovery and safety
• Respond effectively in urgent situations and participate in unit-based emergency protocols

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain state licensure
• Experience or clinical comfort working with neuro stepdown/SDU patients preferred
• Current BLS required; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
• Strong assessment, critical thinking and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced multidisciplinary team

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in neurological assessment and monitoring
• Familiarity with telemetry and stepdown-level monitoring
• Proficient clinical documentation and electronic medical record navigation
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage complex patient loads
• Strong patient and family education skills
