Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity nursing care to Medical Telemetry patients, maintaining safety and clinical excellence
• Perform IV insertions and collaborate with the IV SWAT RN for difficult sticks
• Interpret telemetry and read EKGs to detect rhythm changes and escalate care as needed
• Maintain sterile technique while performing Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner EMR and communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team
• Participate in SIMs Lab and demonstrate competency in required skills (pass/fail assessment)
• Assist with patient lifts, wound care, and restraints according to facility policy
• Float to MedSurg/Tele floors as needed and support unit throughput during high turnover

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to practice in Arizona) — required
• BLS and ACLS certifications — required
• Demonstrated IV experience is a MUST
• Telemetry experience with ability to read EKGs and manage a 1:4 ratio patient load
• Comfort and competence with Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
• Experience with Cerner EMR
• Level 1 Trauma experience preferred (Level 1 TRAUMA REQUIRED as stated)
• Willingness to complete and pass DYS exam prior to accepting (2 attempts allowed; failure results in 6-month DNU for specified regions)
• Ability to pass pass/fail SIMs Lab on day 1 of orientation (sterile field maintenance is critical)
• Travel teams must have their own vehicle
• Adherence to facility appearance policies: natural hair color, no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit testing
• Availability for every-other-weekend scheduling and holiday rotation

• IV insertion and difficult IV management
• Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
• Central line care and sterile dressing changes
• Foley catheter insertion and urinary care
• High-acuity patient assessment and intervention
• Cerner EMR documentation and workflow
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP support and coordination with RT
• Wound care, patient lifts, and safe restraint application
