Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (day & night): varied start times — 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM, 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM, 2:00 PM - 2:00 AM, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM. Every other weekend and every other holiday. Orientation: 1-2 unit-specific shifts.
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $61 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Triage and rapidly assess patients across the lifespan, making timely decisions that impact outcomes
- Provide skilled emergency nursing care including IV starts, medication administration, and telemetry monitoring
- Manage trauma and critical patients following Level II protocols and collaborate closely with physicians
- Initiate and monitor vasoactive and critical care drips, ensuring safe titration and documentation
- Perform patient-focused assessments and deliver clear education to patients and families
- Coordinate patient throughput, transfers, and diagnostics including CT/X-ray escorts when required
- Collaborate with respiratory therapists, ED techs, and support staff to deliver efficient, compassionate care
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and participate in unit-based quality and safety efforts
Qualifications
- Current RN licensure (able to practice in North Dakota or hold a compact license)
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
- Comfortable with 12-hour rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays every other cycle
- Experience with ED skills such as triage, telemetry interpretation, IV starts, and pediatric to geriatric care
- Able to manage multiple patients with acuity-based ratios (commonly 1:3-4, may be up to 5 when boarding)
- Effective communicator who works well in high-paced teams and with multidisciplinary staff
- Prefer travel nurse experience but open to first-time travelers who are adaptable and eager to learn
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
- Active RN license and required emergency certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC)
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency and trauma nursing principles and fast-paced triage workflows
- Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
- Medication administration including vasopressors, heparin, and antiarrhythmics
- Critical care drip management for ED holds and one-to-one care when needed
- Phlebotomy and IV insertion skills
- Pediatric and geriatric assessment and care
- Ability to collaborate with respiratory therapy and other support services
- Strong clinical judgment, prioritization, and documentation skills
