Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality telemetry nursing care to cardiac-focused and general overflow patients, prioritizing safety and comfort
• Read and interpret EKG strips and promptly escalate dysrhythmias per unit protocols
• Administer medications accurately, including Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Heparin, and monitor patient response
• Deliver thorough bedside report and clear documentation in Cerner EMR to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including hospitalists, RT, and pharmacy, during charge RN rounds
• Serve as a flexible team player who supports staffing needs, float assignments, and unit priorities
• Precept and orient new staff and travelers during 1-2 day floor-specific orientation when assigned
• Complete required competency testing (Dysrhythmia exam through UNA) and maintain certifications promptly

Qualifications

• Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state licensure required)
• BLS and ACLS certification required; NIHSS certification required
• Telemetry experience with strong EKG interpretation skills
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR for documentation and charting
• Comfort administering cardiac medications such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Heparin (stable, non-titrating)
• Ability to work a 1:4 patient ratio and every other weekend; holiday rotation participation required
• Two supervisory references required at submittal (one within 12 months and one within 3 years); charge nurse experience accepted
• Willingness to complete the Dysrhythmia (basic) exam within 24-48 hours of acceptance (pass/fail; two attempts allowed)

• Cerner EMR navigation and accurate clinical documentation
• Effective bedside reporting and interdisciplinary communication
• Comfort working with hospitalists, respiratory therapy 24/7, and on-call pharmacy
• Charge nurse functions including break relief and unit coordination
